The Rochester Birding Association (RBA) has been invited to become a member of a coalition of other organizations working to prevent the siting of up to seventy 620+ ft. tall wind turbines along the Lake Ontario shoreline.
Since 2007, RBA has held the position of supporting wind energy as an alternative to fossil fuel power generation, provided that the facilities do not cause undue harm to nesting and migrating birds.
The mission of the POWER (Protecting (Lake) Ontario’s Waterfront, Environment, and Resources) coalition is to prevent the current proposal by Apex Clean Energy to site up to seventy 620+ ft. tall wind turbines along the Lake Ontario shoreline.
The Mission Statement and Guiding Principles of the POWER organization are available in the member’s only section (sign in). The board has agreed to bring the possibility of joining this coalition to the membership for a vote at the annual meeting January 13th. Please join us then for a festive meal, the election of the 2018 board and this vote.
